Article 35: Finishing the earth plaster

All the interior earth walls are finished. This last stage took a little longer than planned.

At the end of May, over the long Whitsun weekend, the walls went from the second coat to the finishing coat. Thanks to Claire, Yvan and Kevin for their help, and of course to Nicole, our plaster coach. In early June, Lise and Raphaël also came to get their hands in the earth.

The plaster then had a few surprises in store: first a large crack, then a hole. Looking more closely with Nicole, we understood the cause: in some places, the first coat had not bonded properly to the straw, so the following coats could not hold. We redid all the coats on the affected areas. Today, the cracks are closed and the hole is filled.
