Tiles in the rain

Yesterday, in a light, steady drizzle, we started laying the tiles. We may as well say it straight away: it was harder than we imagined.

First of all, it is very heavy: about 20 kg per pack of 7 tiles. There were 48 packs per pallet and 4 pallets, so almost 200 packs to spread out over the roof! Then there was the alignment: the carpenter had marked a red line, but in the rain we could no longer see it. Finally, we had to grind down the tiles that fell on the gutter bracket.

Despite these pitfalls, we made progress. We will have our carpenter check the start of the laying to make sure the technique is right, and we look forward to finishing in the next few days. On the plaster side, the second coat is finished: everything is ready for the finishing coat.
