Article 12: The load-bearing straw walls are done
It’s done! All the load-bearing walls of the first house are filled with straw. In two months, we made and filled all these cassettes. There are two days of work left at Christophe’s to finish the elements, but the essential is done.
Looking at all these filled, prestressed walls stored in the barn waiting to be assembled, you realise the extent of what we have achieved. And above all, you realise it is not our work alone. It is the work of dozens of people who gave themselves without counting the cost.
It was extraordinary to have so many motivated people come together to help us.
Next step
At the carpenter’s, there are two days of work left to finish the timber elements. After that, this first phase will be completely finished. We are planning to assemble the house in January, when all these walls will be put together and raised to form the structure. It is getting real, but we are not quite there yet.
